Understanding Anxiety Depression and Adjustment
Mental health affects how we think, feel, and live our daily lives. Three common challenges that many people face are anxiety, depression and stress. Though often related, they are distinct experiences that can impact emotional and physical well-being in different ways. Watson Therapeutic & Wellness is here to help.

What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a natural response to stress or perceived danger. It’s a feeling of worry, nervousness, or fear that can range from mild to intense. While occasional anxiety is a normal part of life, persistent or overwhelming anxiety may indicate an anxiety disorder. These conditions can affect how a person thinks, feels, and behaves, often interfering with daily life and overall well-being. Understanding anxiety is the first step toward managing it, seeking support, and finding effective ways to cope.

What is Adjustment?
Mental adjustment refers to an emotional or behavioral reaction to an identifiable stressful event or change in a person's life. It involves the process of adapting to life transitions, which can be challenging and may trigger stress or discomfort. These transitions—such as moving to a different state, changing jobs, or experiencing relationship challenges—often require individuals to shift their mindset, manage emotions, and develop new coping strategies in order to regain stability and maintain well-being.
What is Depression?
Depression is a common mental health condition characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest or pleasure in daily activities. It can affect how a person thinks, feels, and functions, both emotionally and physically. Depression can range from mild to severe and may require professional support and treatment to manage.
